Dangers of Go-Karts
Go-karts are a fun and fast attraction and many amusement parks and children's entertainment zones. It is no wonder that after a trip to a friend's birthday party many children come home begging their parents for a go-kart of their very own. Before making the decision to purchase a private motorized kart, parents should consider and be aware of the potential dangers associated with owning a go-kart.
The Risks
The structure of go-karts sold for private use is what makes them so dangerous. They tend to have exposed gas tanks, uncovered machinery and engines. Their open cage design leaves no protection for your head, arms, and legs.

A study that was recently released cited that children who sustain injuries from private go-karts requiring hospitalization tend to stay an average of five days in the hospital. More than half of the children that had to be hospitalized had to undergo at least one surgery. Almost a third of the hospitalized children required two or more operations. The lack of protection provided by go-karts used at home can cause serious injuries, such as:
