Texas Spa Sued for Slip and Fall

Posted on Monday, August 25th, 2008 at 7:08 am

Texas – A former guest at the Southeast Texas spa MCM Elegante Hotel is suing the resort for negligence in designing its shower.  The plaintiff suffered injuries after slipping and falling in the spa.

“A dangerous condition … was created by water pouring out of a spa shower onto a marble floor located in the spa and salon area of the hotel,” the suit says.

The suit claims that the plaintiff slipped while walking across a wet marble floor.  The plaintiff alleges the water caused her to slip and hit the outside of the shower in the spa area.

The U.S. Senate passed legislation last week banning all lead in toys.  The bill also temporarily places a ban on chemicals of the phthalate family in toys that children play with or chew on.

A White house spokesperson has said the President will sign the legislation aimed at making toys safer and bolstering the authority of the office that oversees federal consumer product safety.

Phthalate chemicals are used primarily to make vinyl soft and flexible.  They can be found in garden hoses, wiring and cable, construction materials, flooring, automotive interiors, and medical devices.

“Choking Game” No Fun

Posted on Friday, August 1st, 2008 at 3:08 am

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention release a warning to parents about a very dangerous that has taken the lives of nearly 90 young people.  The “choking game”, also called “space monkey” and the “pass out game”, is played by teens to get a quick high without drugs or alcohol.  The game involves intentionally choking one’s self to reach a brief euphoric state.

Victims of the game, 82% of whom were male, typically die because the strangulation is prolonged.  What has become particularly dangerous about the game is that kids are now using ligatures like belts, ropes, and scarves to hang themselves.  And they are playing alone, evermore increasing the danger with no one there to help them.

Signs that children have been participating in the game include bloodshot eyes, headaches, bruises around the neck.

If your child has been injured or killed by this game, contact the Racine Wrongful Death lawyers of Habush Habush & Rottier S.C. ® to discuss your case and further legal options at
