Medical Malpractice Explains High African-American Premature Birth Rate

An article in the Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons has asserted that African-American women face such high premature birth rates likely because of medical negligence and malpractice.

African-Americans are 3 times more likely to have premature birth 32 weeks before gestation and 4 times more likely 28 weeks before gestation, compared to non-African-Americans.

Such cases of medical negligence are very costly. On average people are awarded $2 million for medical negligence in childbirth.
