In Dane County, a medical malpractice case ended with the family of a now 8 year old girl being awarded $17.3 million. The case, led by attorney Dan Rottier, was based on a botched surgery the girl underwent in June 2007.

The girl was severely injured during the operation and is now confined to a wheelchair. Permanent brain damage has left her unable to speak so she now communicates by blinking her eyes. The damage done by the surgery is irreversible.

Gun Control Becomes Hot Topic at Capital

Posted on Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009 at 4:08 am

The day after the 10 year anniversary of the Columbine massacre, advocates for strict gun control laws spoke at the Capitol. To further their point, 450 shirts were hung around the Rotunda to represent the number of gun related deaths across the state last year.

With the press that gun control is getting, some law makers are looking into bettering the laws. Currently, it is legal to carry a gun in the open as long as the individual does not cause a disturbance. After looking into constitutionality, several legislators plan to draft bills to tighten these gun control laws.
