In Elm Grove, a woman was driving her van with one of her children when it got stuck on a set of train tracks. The woman's husband was following in another car and saw the van get stuck as the train approached.

The husband and a police officer quickly got the woman away from the tracks but were thrown several yards in the impact while trying to extract the child. The child was unhurt in the impact, but the officer and the father were both hospitalized in satisfatory and critical conditions respectively.

A crash laboratory run by the Medical College of Wisconsin is trying to accomplish two goals by crashing cars. The first goal is to develop technology that would keep people safer in crashes. The second is to help physicians better respond to crash injuries.

The lab has been crashing cars for the last 20 years. As a result, crash test ratings have been rising. When the testing started, most cars received only 1 or 2 stars. Today, however, these ratings can be difficult to find, and many cars have 5 star ratings.

On Sunday afternoon, two motorcycles were involved in a crash in Wind Lake. Around 3pm, one motorcycle stopped at the intersection of West Loomis Rd and North Wind Lake Rd where the other motorcycle struck it.

Four people were injured in the crash. They were all taken to Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa but the extent of their injuries was not released. Police are investigating.

With this in mind, Fox Valley Technical College is testing the technology for putting black boxes into semi trucks. This would record the drivers' actions, making them more attentive to their driving. It would also give much more information about the crash after the fact.

Motorcycle Safety Month aims to reduce the number of motorcycle accidents across Wisconsin by educating motorists. Motorcycles are often unseen, leading to terrible crashes that can lead to serious injury and death.

One group that helps with motorcycle awareness has been providing motorcycle education since 1974. This education has seen a decrease in motorcycle deaths. In 2007 there were 110 motorcycle rider deaths compared to 88 last year.
