Tina Holstein gave birth to her third child in October 2007 at Community General Hospital in Syracuse, New York.  After the delivery, Holstein felt ill and began vomiting.  A nurse at the hospital administered an intramuscular injection to help her feel better.  Later, Holstein discovered that she had developed permanent damage to her sciatic nerve.

Holstein sued both the nurse and Community General Hospital for failing to properly administer the injection resulting in permanent injury.  The medical malpractice case against the nurse was dropped, but Holstein recently received $1.69 million in damages from Community General Hospital.

According to CNN Health, "Perdue Farms is recalling
nearly 92,000 pounds of chicken nuggets because of a concern that a small
number of them may contain pieces of plastic."

The nuggets were part of a Great Value brand at Wal Mart stores and are sold all across the United States, reports CNN. Perdue Farms predicts that a small plastic ring fell in the raw contents, before the nuggets had been put together and shaped.

The company said no one has been hurt. Over 50,000 of the packages containing fully-cooked nuggets have been recalled. No other Great Value brand items are considered at risk.

The Northwestern reports that 42-year-old Scott Perzentka from Oshkosh, "was riding his motorcycle home from work on July 3, 2003, along the frontage road near Planeview Travel Plaza when a semitrailer turned in front of him." The crash left Perzentka in a coma for two months. He suffered, "severe injuries, including a head injury, broken jaw, teeth ribs and pelvis, a shattered left hip and two hernias," according to The Northwestern.

After coming out of his coma, Perzentka was determined to make sure others paid more attention on the road.

"'It was as simple as someone not paying attention," Perzentka said. "'I almost died and now I'm going to spend the rest of my life trying to help,'" Perzentka emphasized to The Northwestern.

His non-profit Bikers Down is in the beginning stages, but he wants to prevent crashes like his in the first place. The Northwestern reports that so far this year 256 people have died on the road in the state of Wisconsin. Of those, 43 were motorcycle drivers and three were motorcycle passengers.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that Wisconsin is one of only a few states that does not require specialized safety inspections on structures. According to The Sentinel, "Wisconsin is among a minority of states that has exempted projects from that portion of international building codes, which call for the independent testing."

This exemption is a concern, especially in light of the collapse of a concrete panel at O'Donnell Park that killed a 15-year-old. Now, there is a call to make the special inspections a requirement. The current system requires contractors to assert that their work meets all requirements.

In the O'Donnell Park incident, investigators are having a difficult time determining who was at fault for what happened. Every party involved is claiming that the blame lies with another party. The family of 15-year-old Jarod Kellner has hired a lawyer, who is investigating possible premises liability claims.
