Man Sues Hospital for Delayed Diagnosis and Treatment for Bacterial Meningitis

Posted under 6a4db1d5-87d2-4445-9944-319b472abee1

A 54-year-old man is suing a hospital for delayed diagnosis after he contracted bacterial meningitis from an epidural injection and was not diagnosed for an extended period of time.

After receiving the epidural, the man reported severe headaches, back pain, and fever. He was also beginning to lose control of his bowel movements. The man went to the emergency room, where he was diagnosed with arachnoiditis and given several doses of anitbiotics. He continued to experience pain, so he went back to the hospital, where he was correctly diagnosed with bacterial meningitis.

The lawsuit claims that the man would not have suffered if the hospital had correctly diagnosed his illness and treated him promptly. He is suing for punitive and compensatory damages.
