The popular food manufacturing company, Dole Fresh Vegetables, recently issued a recall of more than 2,800 cases of its Italian-blend bagged salads. The recall was voluntarily issued as a precaution by Dole after Listeria monocytogenes were found in one bag of the salad.
The contaminated bag of salad was found during a routine inspection conducted by the Ohio Department of Agriculture. Prior to the recall, the bags of salad had been distributed to grocery stores in several states throughout the country, including those in Wisconsin. There have not been any reports of illness caused by the contaminated salad.
Dole has advised anyone who may have purchased the salad to throw it out immediately.
