A drunk driver who critically injured a Milwaukee police officer Christmas Day last year has been sentenced to ten years in prison and ten years extended supervision after he pleaded no contest to felony charges of first-degree recklessness injury and first-degree reckless endangerment.
According to Fox 6 Now, the driver was driving the wrong-way near 17th and Windlake Avenue when the accident occurred. The officer was struck from behind, thrown into the air, and landed 30 to 40 feet away from the site of impact.
The driver was found in Chicago where he later admitted to drinking that night. He faced a maximum of 40 years in prison.
