Major Crib Recall Includes Wisconsin-Based Company

by Administrator 29. June 2010 01:36

A major crib recall is sweeping the United States. So far, over 2 million cribs have been recalled. The Onalaska Holmen Courier-Life reports that, "The voluntary recall involves drop-side cribs made by seven companies between 2000 and 2009."

One of the crib companies whose products are being recalled is Simmons Juvenile Products, Inc., based out of New London, Wis. The company is reportedly no longer in business.

So far, no deaths have been reported as a result of these cribs. However, the drop sides have fallen off or malfunctioned in over 250 cases, and 16 report that an infant has been trapped. One case resulted in a child losing consciousness and going to the hospital.

Janet Jenkins of the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture's Division of Trade and Consumer Protection says these recalls are serious and use of recalled cribs needs to stop immediately. In the past five years alone, nine million cribs have been recalled.

The consequences of unsafe products are unpredictable. If you or someone you know, has suffered as a result of an unsafe product, dial 800-242-2874 to reach a distinguished Racine products liability lawyer at Habush Habush & Rottier, S.C.

Luxury cars can still be defective

by Administrator 9. June 2010 08:41

Owning a luxury vehicle does not  exempt you from experiencing car defects.  Luxury car companies pride themselves on being the standard to which all car companies aspire, but even the best engineering companies sometimes fall prey to the lemon law.  The 2010 Cadillac DTS is one of the newest recalls that the United States has seen in a long line of non-luxury vehicle recalls.  Although German cars are often viewed as the hallmark of engineering perfection, Mercedes-Benz was recently ordered to pay almost half a million dollars in damages and legal fees to a Wisconsin client who wasn't given a refund when he bought a defective vehicle.

It is important to not labor under the delusion that the more expensive a car is, the more unlikely it is that the vehicle will experience any defects.  Most states agree that three repairs is enough to consider a car a lemon.  In California, a vehicle is considered defective if it is subject to repair more than four times within 18 months or 18,000 miles.

It is important to understand the car defect laws of the state that you live in so that you are not cheated out of thousands of dollars from companies who provided you with a defective car.  If you believe that your automobile is defective or contains defective parts, contact the Racine automobile defect lawyers of Habush, Habush & Rottier, S.C. by calling 800-242-2874.

Single-engine plane crash injures pilot

by Administrator 21. May 2010 02:52

A Wisconsin man was injured last week after crash landing into a farm field in Sheboygan Falls.

The pilot reported that he was experiencing engine trouble and attempted to redirect the plane back to the airport runway, but crashed during his return trip. The impact of the crash caused the single-engine aircraft to flip over with the pilot still inside. He survived the crash with minor injuries.

Mechanical failures and other product defects can be especially dangerous when one is piloting a plane or other vehicle. If you or someone you know has been hurt in an accident caused by a product defect, you may have grounds to initiate a lawsuit to recover compensation for your injuries and damages.
