Wisconsin Continues Poor Handling of Special Needs Children

by Administrator 15. December 2008 11:12
In 2006, a special needs 7-year-old girl was killed in center for such children under the state's foster care program.  She was forced to ground and held in a chokehold for over one hour.  She died because she could not breath.  Although that treatment center has been closed, there are eleven other treatment centers that function in a similar way.  Additionally, the chokehold technique, as well as techniques of restraint, is still in use by all of them.   Many have claimed that the Wisconsin Department of Health Services has failed to take appropriate action. If someone you know has suffered from negligence, contact the Racine personal injury attorneys of Habush, Habush, & Rottier, S. C. by calling 1-262-554-6200 or by visiting their website.

Murder Victim’s Son Awarded $650,000

by Administrator 10. September 2008 09:09
Ohio - In an effort to restore some peace to their children and immediate families, the George family has agreed to pay the son of the slain Jeff Zack $650,000.  The civil suit was brought on after Cynthia George's conviction for soliciting a third party to murder Zack was overturned. George had been found guilty of soliciting her current lover John Zaffino to kill her former lover Zack in 2001.  Her sentence was overturned after a 9th circuit appeals court ruled that, although Zaffino was guilty of Zack's murder, the case lacked sufficient evidence to prove that George solicited him to commit the murder. Zack's 19-year-old son is a university student.  He will be awarded $428,000 from the settlement, with the rest going towards attorney's fees. Fatal Cement Truck Collision Leads to Lawsuit

by Administrator 5. May 2008 03:05
A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed against the driver of a cement truck in connection with a collision which killed a woman on State Highway 183. Maria Gamez, 41, was killed on April 11, after Edward Magallon lost control of his cement truck and crashed into Gamez's SUV. The lawsuit also names the driver's employer, Texas Industries, Inc. as a defendant, claiming it should never have allowed someone with Magallon's poor driving safety record to operate a commercial truck. According to Department of Public Safety records, Magallon has prior convictions for DWI, failing to maintain motor vehicle insurance, ignoring traffic control devices, and speeding while operating a commercial vehicle. His license was suspended in both 2005 and 2006. Have you been hurt in a car accident caused by another person's negligence? Bay Shore asserts that any responsibility should rest with All About Plumbing, Heat Transfer Products, or R.E. Michel, its co-defendants in the case. It claims that the CO leak was caused by defective devices and maintenance on the part of these other companies, and seeks to clear itself of all wrongdoing. If you or someone you love has been injured due to another person or company's negligence, don't hesitate to call  262-554-6200 and speak with a Racine personal injury lawyer at Habush, Habush, & Rottier, S.C.
