Deaths by Poisoning Likely to Have Been Preventable
Posted on Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009 at 8:02 am
Reports from the Arizona Department of Health Services have recently reported that 100% of the poisoning deaths in children under the age of 18 in 2007 were preventable.
Arizona Poison and Drug Administration concluded that the deaths were caused by 5 main components. These included:
Accidental poisonings, unintentional overdoses, and acute intoxications.
Many of the poisonings were due to prescription medicines. There has been a warning issued to Prescription Drug Subcommittee that requires closer inspection before releasing medications. Also, it recommends parents to educate themselves on the proper storage and disposal of prescription medications.
If you or someone you know has lost a loved one because of these types of accidents, it is important you contact your Racine products liability lawyer at 800-242-2874 to discuss your situation.
Tough Driving Conditions in Racine County
Posted on Monday, January 12th, 2009 at 7:01 am
Sheriff Deputy Kevin Kazmierski, of Racine County, WI, has been responsible for keeping up with the vehicular accidents seen during the past few days. The days can best be summarized with two words: spin outs and accidents. The deputies in Racine County have been dealing with them all day.
For Kazmierski, keeping up with the numerous spin outs was challenging enough, let along attempting to pull them out of the ditches where they ended up.
“They just don’t slow down,” Kazmierski said. He claims he and the other deputies weren’t even able to make it on to the interstate without seeing an SUV stuck along the on-ramp to I-94 in Sturtevant.
“Lots of cars are in the ditch. Changing lanes is a big problem,” explains Cory Diltz, another deputy. Another culprit is the thick ice blankets of snow. Drivers claim the snow is their main problem. Kazmierski holds that drivers are going too fast in the snow. Therefore, the culprit for the vehicular accidents depends on who you ask.

Posted on Thursday, December 18th, 2008 at 9:12 am
According to a federal survey, more than 26 percent of Wisconsin adults ages 18 and up admitted to driving under the influence in the previous year. This is the highest percentage of the 50 states and is more than 70 percent above the national average of 15.1 percent.
Analysts speculate that this percentage is not surprising and is on par with other alcohol-related data concerning Wisconsin. The state is among the nation’s leaders in per-person alcohol consumption and has had the country’s lowest abstention rate for several years.

“Choking Game” No Fun
Posted on Friday, August 1st, 2008 at 3:08 am
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention release a warning to parents about a very dangerous that has taken the lives of nearly 90 young people. The “choking game”, also called “space monkey” and the “pass out game”, is played by teens to get a quick high without drugs or alcohol. The game involves intentionally choking one’s self to reach a brief euphoric state.
Victims of the game, 82% of whom were male, typically die because the strangulation is prolonged. What has become particularly dangerous about the game is that kids are now using ligatures like belts, ropes, and scarves to hang themselves. And they are playing alone, evermore increasing the danger with no one there to help them.
Signs that children have been participating in the game include bloodshot eyes, headaches, bruises around the neck.
If your child has been injured or killed by this game, contact the Racine Wrongful Death lawyers of Habush Habush & Rottier S.C. ® to discuss your case and further legal options at

Parents Sued for Teen Drinking Under NY Law
Posted on Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008 at 7:07 am
Parents who serve alcohol to teens could face a lawsuit under state of New York law. According to the law, if a person serves alcohol to a minor and they injure themselves or someone else, that person is civilly liable and can be sued for damages suffered.
Most state laws find parents criminally culpable for serving drinks to minors, as well as if an injury occurs.
Under the NY law, party hosts would have to pay for damages suffered by the teenagers involved as well any third parties. This includes bodily injury, mental health, and destruction of property. This is covered under premise liability law which states that owners or tenants of real estate are responsible for injuries to individuals using that property.
If you or a loved one has suffered due a teen drinking accident, contact a Racine Personal Injury Lawyer by calling 1-800-682-3434 today.
