Two people were injured in a car accident in Racine Monday night.
According to officials with the Racine Police Department, 18 year-old Matthew Mau and his girlfriend were transported to Wheaton Franciscan All Saints hospital with moderate injuries. Police say the two-vehicle accident occurred in the 3400 block of Douglas Avenue shortly before 8:30 p.m. Monday.
Lt. Carlos Lopez said Mau was traveling northbound on Douglas when a southbound car made an abrupt left turn in front of his vehicle. The two cars crashed head-on. The impact of the crash sent Mau's vehicle into a telephone pole.
Rescue workers used hydraulic tools to extricate one person out of a vehicle. More information on the identities of those involved has not been released.
The crash remains under investigation.
