A woman from Charleston, West Virginia recently filed a lawsuit against Charleston's Department of Natural Resources on behalf of her 8-year-old son who drowned at a pool party at a state park.
The boy attended the pool party at Chief Logan State Park on August 13, 2010. According to reports, the boy left the group of people at the party and fell into the deep end of the pool, where he drowned. The lawsuit claims that the pool's deep end was not lighted properly and that there were not enough lifeguards assigned to the party to ensure that the children were safe.
The woman is suing the government agency for compensatory damages, including mental anguish and medical expenses.
