Steering problems cause recall of 106,000 Prius vehicles

Posted under ac292572-9b54-4e30-8499-cb7eaf567561

A global recall of Prius hybrid vehicles was recently issued voluntarily by Toyota. The recall was issued because the vehicles were found to have steering wheel problems over time.

Overall, the recall included 106,000 vehicles in several different countries. Of the 106,000 vehicles recalled, 52,000 were recalled in the United States. The recall came after an accident occurred in the U.S. involving the defect in the vehicle. Following the accident, it was found that a nut on the Prius's steering wheel can come loose when the vehicle is continuously turned to the full-lock position. This can cause great difficulty in steering.

This recent recall is just one of many that Toyota has issued in the past year. Owners of the Prius will be alerted of the recall by mail.
