Several families have filed lawsuits against Jensen Farms, a produce company that has recalled thousands of cantaloupe due to a listeria outbreak. So far thirteen are confirmed dead due to listeriosis and seventy-two have fallen ill in states all over the country, all of who have been traced back to consuming cantaloupe grown at Jensen Farms in Colorado.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention expect the numbers to increase in the following weeks, since it can take up to two months for listeriosis to develop after eating listeria-contaminated foods.

Symptoms of listeriosis include high fevers, vomiting, confusion, and body aches. The young and elderly are most vulnerable to the outbreak.
